I'd first like to say that I typically only base my opinions after watching at least three episodes of an anime series. If I didn't, I suppose you could say that I'm only reading the summary on the back of a book. Anyways, on to my lil' review of what I think of the anime: Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou.
I do admit the immediate thing I thought in the first few minutes, was the 'square' eyes. I suppose you could say it in another sort, but it did catch me off-guard. Basically, I have no right to judge because animation is extremely difficult. At the end of the very 1st episode, I had gotten used to it. It just takes a bit of time getting the sense of a different art style; which I truly appreciate now. In total, the animation is quite swell. c:
As for the characters so far, they're extremely creative and hold unique personalities in every single one. Something about the unknown has always drawn me in for some reason. Perhaps curiosity. Back on topic; the main character is one that I deeply adore because of his caring personality despite what he is put through including his hardships. Obviously by now, it's hinted that his past is haunting him with his anxiety of what others see him as - fearing that he'll end up alone.
On episode two, I believe the character's name was, Gen. Who was really cute with his bunny ears. I had a minor fan-girl moment and questioned my sanity while doing so.
The plot still isn't entirely clear to me yet, since it's only been three episodes and I have a bunch more to go right now. However, I have high hopes for this anime and I can sense it's going to become quite intense later on with this slow build up. Which will probably be worth the wait, I just have to pace myself out when watching the episodes!
[Another thing I recently just discovered was that the mangka for this anime was also for,
Hotarubi no Mori e, where I cried like a little bitch wuss. A strong emotional attachment is going be made while watching this, I can feel it.]
